SFK 1901 e.V.

Design for tradition, home, and old friends – the Stadt- und Feuerwehrkapelle Wissen 1901 e.V. The Youth Orchestra, with an unusually low average age, does outstanding youth outreach. A new visual identity was needed so that the young people—as well as the older members—of the association could identify more strongly with it. Away with the outdated image, toward a new design that does justice to the orchestra’s success.

By volunteering as a designer and photographer for the orchestra, I can continue to positively influence my hometown of Wissen even from Cologne, maintaining close ties with an association that I now hold in high regard, as it has had a positive impact on me in many ways.

The logo is characterized by a connection to the local community; it is derived from the traditional St. Andrew’s Cross, the coat of arms of Wissen. The illustration—which stems from the technique of generative design, visualizes a specific piece of music, and makes the complexity of orchestral music visible—gives the corporate design a delicate and dynamic element. This is contrasted with a photographic visual world that shows the orchestra from the musician’s perspective; the viewer is thus drawn onto the stage and can already sense the orchestra’s powerful presence on the posters.
